I want to be free

From the Bible we can read that Jesus said these words:

"If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples (follower’s) then you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free."

Can you imagine what those people listening said?

"We’ve never been slaves to anyone!

How can you say that we shall be SET FREE?"

That’s what we would say, isn’t it?

But Jesus was saying that the Truth will set us free.

But we are FREE already, we’re NOT slaves!

But Jesus’ answer is very interesting, He said:

"I tell you the Truth."

(It’s that word again!)

"Everyone who sins

is a SLAVE to sin."

But what is SIN?

It’s all those things we shouldn't have done to other people:

Telling lies, cruel thoughts, hurting people, etc.

And it’s all those things that we should have done:

A helping hand, sharing things, encouraging rather than criticising, etc.

It’s also when we ignore GOD and go our own way.

So when we tell lies, or have cruel thoughts, or don't help people, or ignore God and do what we want in a selfish way,

then, WE are a slave to those bad things.

Do we really want to be free?

Not free to please ourselves, whilst hurting others,

but be free to please God.

What sets us free?

Jesus has told us that already!

"If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples (follower’s) then you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free."

It is the Truth that set's us free.

And the Truth is what Jesus taught.
