Revival and the Holy Spirit:

Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones said that revival is an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon a group of people.

Are we trusting in the organising power of the church, or are we trusting in the power of God to pour out His Holy Spirit? The church needs another Pentecost.

Even the wise and learned Paul said:

"My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words,

but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power,

so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom,

but on God's power."

1 Corinthians 2:4

And again, writing to another Church:

"Brothers loved by God, we know that He has chosen you,

because our gospel came to you not simply with words,

but also with power, with the Holy Spirit

and with deep conviction."

1 Thessalonians 1:4-5

That doesn't mean that we sit around doing nothing.

Our responsibility is to pick up and use the things that God has given us, but that doesn't stop us looking for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
